US chip giant Nvidia delegation discusses AI, semiconductor cooperation with Vietnam – Theinvestor.vn

Executives from U.S. chip and Artificial Intelligence (AI) giant Nvidia led by vice president Keith Strier are in Vietnam to explore investment opportunities in AI and semiconductors.
The visit comes after the Vietnam trip last December by chairman and CEO Jensen Huang, who expressed interest in expanding operations in a country that is eager to develop the fledgling semiconductor industry.
Strier had a working session with Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Chi Dung on Monday during which the former was briefed on Vietnam’s strategy for the development of the semiconductor industry and AI; semiconductor workforce training; and initiatives for high-tech, semiconductor, and AI investments.
Following the meeting, the Nvidia delegation toured the National Innovation Center located in the Hoa Lac Hi-Tech Park on the outskirts of Hanoi.
During the visit, the delegation is scheduled to work with other government agencies, localities, and businesses. They will also explore investment opportunities in semiconductors and AI in Hanoi, the central city of Danang, and Ho Chi Minh City.
On the agenda, they will assess conditions to set up an AI research, development, and training center; install a supercomputer system; and shift part of Nvidia‘s graphics processing unit production to Vietnam.
In HCMC, they will meet with officials from the Saigon Hi-Tech Park, National University-HCMC, CMC Corporation, and city chairman Phan Van Mai to discuss semiconductor investment.
During his December visit, Jensen Huang said Nvidia planned to set up a base in Vietnam to attract talents from around the world, establish a legal entity, and make the country its “second home.”
