There Will Be No New iPad Launch This Year As Apple Readies M3 iPad Pro And M2 iPad Air For Next Year – Wccftech
It was previously reported that Apple will host another event in the October to November time frame where it will see fit to announce the new M3 MacBook models as well as new iPad models. Last week, it was coined that the company will only launch the iPad Air in October with the new M2 chip while the M3 MacBook Air models will see daylight next year with the M3 iPad Pro models. Now, a prominent analyst suggests that Apple will not launch any iPad model this year.
According to prominent industry analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, it is ‘unlikely’ that Apple will launch a new iPad this year. What this means is that after today’s Wonderlust event, Apple will not host another event this year. The iPad Air and iPad mini series are due for an upgrade as both models have not been updated for a while. It was also previously rumored that Apple is working on a new iPad mini 7, which will pack powerful internals, potentially the 3nm A17 Bionic chip for this year.
The analyst did not share more details on the subject. Apple could have moved away from the decision to launch the M2 iPad Air due to the M3 iPad Pro models. The M2 iPad Air would compete well against the M2 iPad Pro models, and the company did not want its budget iPad to cannibalize the premium iPad Pro models as far as performance is concerned. Henceforth, the company could announce the M2 iPad Air alongside the M3 iPad Pro models next year.
New iPad models are unlikely before the year’s end.

As for the iPad mini 7, Apple could have delayed its launch due to a potential chip shortage. Apple is hosting its highly anticipated Wonderlust event later today to announce the forthcoming iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models. The iPad mini 7 is expected to feature Apple’s A17 Bionic chip based on a 3nm process. Since the demand for the iPhone 15 Pro models will be greater, the company could have reserved the iPad mini 7 for a later date. However, these are mere speculations at this stage, as the final word rests with Apple.
Apple will announce new iPhone 15 and Apple Watch models alongside the release candidate build of its upcoming iOS 17, watchOS 10, and additional updates.
