SK Keyfoundry mở rộng hoạt động kinh doanh đúc chuyên dụng với việc ra mắt quy trình BCD thế hệ thứ tư

Seoul, South Korea – [Sep 14, 2024] – SK Keyfoundry, the dedicated logic foundry unit of SK Hynix, continues to expand its footprint in the specialty foundry market. The company has recently announced the launch of its fourth-generation 180nm Bipolar-CMOS-DMOS (BCDMOS) process, further strengthening its technological capabilities in power-demanding applications across various industries.

BCD processes combine bipolar, CMOS, and DMOS transistors into a single chip, enabling the development of sophisticated power devices for automotive, mobile, and other advanced applications. This fourth-generation BCD process from SK Keyfoundry delivers a 20% improvement in performance over the previous generation, supporting power devices up to 40V, with gate inputs of 3.3V, 5V, and 18V. This new process is tailored for a variety of applications, including power management ICs (PMICs) for servers and laptops, mobile chargers, audio amplifiers, and automotive gate drivers. Notably, it also meets the stringent automotive AEC-Q100 Grade 1 quality standard.

In addition to the new BCD process, SK Keyfoundry has set its sights on the next-generation power semiconductor market, developing cutting-edge gallium nitride (GaN) and silicon carbide (SiC) technologies. These efforts are aimed at meeting the growing demand for high-efficiency power devices, driven by industries such as automotive, mobile, and data centers.

SK Keyfoundry’s expansion comes on the heels of its acquisition by SK Hynix in 2021. Initially an independent foundry company following its spinoff from MagnaChip in 2020, SK Keyfoundry operates a 200mm fab in Cheongju, South Korea, with the capacity to produce 100,000 wafers per month. Since its acquisition, SK Keyfoundry has rapidly advanced its specialty process offerings, making it a key player in the semiconductor foundry industry.
