SK Hynix to Strengthen Alliance with TSMC and NVIDIA at SEMICON Taiwan – BusinessKorea
SK Hynix is set to strengthen its triangular alliance with TSMC and NVIDIA by participating in Taiwan's comprehensive semiconductor forum, SEMICON Taiwan. On September 4, Kim Joo-sun, President of SK Hynix, will deliver a keynote speech at the CEO Summit of SEMICON Taiwan, marking the first time the company has taken such a prominent role at the event.
SEMICON Taiwan, hosted by the International Semiconductor Equipment and Materials Association (SEMI), is a pivotal event in the semiconductor industry. It serves as a platform for around 1,000 companies, including major Taiwanese firms like TSMC, to showcase their latest semiconductor equipment and technologies, fostering collaboration and innovation.
Following his keynote speech, President Kim is expected to engage in discussions with TSMC executives about next-generation high-bandwidth memory (HBM) collaboration plans. There is also a possibility of a roundtable discussion with Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, further solidifying the triangular alliance between SK Hynix, TSMC, and NVIDIA.
SK Hynix is part of the supply chain for NVIDIA, which dominates the artificial intelligence (AI) semiconductor market. The collaboration between these industry giants is expected to yield significant advancements in high-performance computing and AI applications. SK Hynix and TSMC have already agreed to jointly design and produce some products from the "HBM4 (6th generation)" series, which will be mass-produced starting in 2026.
The groundwork for these collaborations was laid earlier this year. In April, SK Group Chairman Chey Tae-won met with CEO Jensen Huang to discuss semiconductor cooperation. Last month, Chairman Chey also met with TSMC Chairman Mark Liu to further these discussions. These high-level meetings highlight the strategic importance of these partnerships for SK Hynix.
