SK Group to strengthen ties with Japan chip equipment makers: CEO – Nikkei Asia
Chey Tae-won says South Korean company will also deepen R&D collaboration
TOKYO — SK Group aims to strengthen its ties with Japanese companies in the semiconductor industry, amid heated competition over cutting-edge chips that are vital for generative artificial intelligence, Chey Tae-won, chairman and chief executive of the South Korean conglomerate, told Nikkei on Thursday.
“We will further strengthen cooperation with Japanese chipmaking equipment makers and chip materials suppliers, and will consider increasing investment [in Japan],” said Chey, who was in Tokyo to attend the Future of Asia forum hosted by Nikkei.
