SK enpulse Sells Semiconductor Material Business to Chinese Companies – BusinessKorea
The investment company SK enpulse of SKC’s semiconductor material business announced on Sept. 13 that it will sell its wet chemical business, currently operated in China, to local semiconductor and display material company Yaker Technology, and its cleaning business to investment specialist Sunyang Shinjin.
The sale includes 75% of the equity in the wet chemical business and 90% in the cleaning business, amounting to approximately 880 billion won. Following a board meeting on Sept, 12, SK enpulse signed a Stock Purchase Agreement (SPA) with Yaker Technology and Sunyang Shinjin, respectively.
Yaker Technology, which is acquiring the wet chemical business, is a large corporation listed on the Shenzhen Stock Exchange in China and is engaged in the business of special gases for semiconductors and displays, as well as photoresist. Sunyang Shinjin owns businesses investing in semiconductor processing equipment and components.
Earlier this year, SKC integrated its semiconductor material and component business into SK enpulse and is expanding its high-value-added material business for semiconductor front-end processes, including CMP pads and blank masks. It also plans to enter the semiconductor back-end business and signed an acquisition contract last month with global leader ISC in the semiconductor test solution domain.
By the end of this year, through Absolics, they intend to complete the world’s first high-performance semiconductor packaging glass substrate production plant in the state of Georgia in the U.S.
