Samsung Foundry is expected to make the company’s 2nm fabrication process, dubbed SF2, ready for mass production by 2025. With that, Samsung is expected to use this technology for the company’s Exynos chipset for that year, the Exynos 2600, which it will use in the Galaxy S26 series smartphones. Well, today we have more concrete information on the matter.
According to a new report from ET News, Samsung has started developing a chipset with the codename ‘Thetis.’ The publication claims that the company will start mass-producing this SoC on the 2nm fabrication process in 2025 and use it in the Galaxy S26 series smartphones. The South Korean tech giant will most likely launch this processor as the Exynos 2600.
Thetis is a figure from Greek mythology. She appears in multiple roles, including a sea nymph, goddess of water, and one of the fifty Nereids, who are daughters of the ancient sea God Nereus. According to a previous report, the Exynos 2600 will feature an in-house developed GPU instead of one based on AMD’s RDNA architecture, like the one we see in the Exynos 2400.
Samsung should launch the Galaxy S26 series in January 2026. Apple, on the other hand, should launch the iPhone 17 series, which is said to use a 2nm chipset manufactured by TSMC, in September 2025. That means Samsung, unfortunately, will not be the first brand to launch a smartphone with a 2nm chipset. That would be Apple, which is a bummer for Samsung fans.

At the moment, that’s all the information we have on the Exynos 2600. Hopefully, we’ll get to know more in the near future. In the meantime, you can watch our video above where we list out the five upgrades that we are expecting from the Galaxy Buds 3. Samsung is expected to launch it at the Galaxy unpacked event on 10 July 2024 alongside the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Galaxy Z Flip 6.
