The Semiconductor Industry Association (SIA) has recently divulged a striking rise in global semiconductor industry sales, which totalled $48.0 billion in November 2023. This represents a noteworthy 5.3% increase compared to the £45.6 billion recorded in November 2022 and a 2.9% upturn from October 2023’s figure of £46.6 billion. Compiled by the World Semiconductor Trade Statistics (WSTS) organisation, these monthly sales are indicative of a three-month moving average. Importantly, SIA embodies 99% of the American semiconductor industry by revenue and nearly two-thirds of non-U.S. chip companies.
John Neuffer, the President and CEO of SIA, shed light on this encouraging trend, remarking, “For the first time since August 2022, global semiconductor sales have seen a year-on-year increase in November, signalling a continuation of the global chip market’s growing strength as we embark on the new year.” He anticipates that the global semiconductor market will enjoy double-digit growth throughout 2024.
The year-to-year sales demonstrated positive movement in various regions: China experienced a 7.6% boost, Asia Pacific/All other regions saw a 7.1% increase, Europe and the Americas grew by 5.6% and 3.5%, respectively. However, Europe also faced a 2.8% reduction. In terms of month-to-month sales, China witnessed a 4.4% rise, the Americas 3.9%, and Asia Pacific/All Other 3.5%, whilst Japan and Europe observed decreases of 0.7% and 2.0%, respectively.
