Micron Technology đầu tư 50 tỷ đô la vào sản xuất chip nhớ tại Hoa Kỳ, tạo ra hàng chục nghìn việc làm

Micron Technology, Inc. (Nasdaq: MU), a global leader in memory and storage solutions, today announced a significant expansion of its U.S. manufacturing operations, fueled by a $6.1 billion grant from the CHIPS and Science Act. This investment, totaling approximately $50 billion through 2030, will bolster domestic memory chip production, strengthen U.S. economic and national security, and create an estimated 75,000 jobs across the semiconductor supply chain.

This ambitious plan includes the construction of advanced memory fabrication facilities in Boise, Idaho, and a four-fab manufacturing complex in Clay, New York, representing a potential total investment of up to $125 billion over the next two decades. The Boise facility, beginning construction in October 2023, will leverage Micron’s existing R&D presence for enhanced efficiency. DRAM production is expected to commence in 2026. The New York project aims to dramatically increase the U.S. share of DRAM production from 2% to approximately 15%.

The expansion is driven by the surging global demand for memory chips, critical components in smartphones, computers, and AI systems. While Micron currently holds a significant market share, recent restrictions imposed by the Chinese government on U.S. technologies have highlighted the importance of diversifying manufacturing capabilities.

The company’s investment strategy also includes a robust commitment to workforce development. Micron is actively engaging with universities and schools to cultivate the next generation of semiconductor professionals.

Micron’s expansion in Idaho and New York is strategically located to leverage local resources, enhancing energy efficiency and water supply. This multifaceted approach combines significant capital investment, strategic geographic positioning, and a commitment to workforce development, solidifying Micron’s position as a leader in the semiconductor industry.
