Gov. Hochul announces new computer chip partnership – WCAX

ALBANY, N.Y. (WCAX) – Computer chip diplomacy is underway in the Empire State.
This week, Governor Kathy Hochul welcomed the Minister of the Netherlands to New York to announce a partnership between the state and the Netherlands to strengthen the semiconductor industry.
Hochul and the Dutch Minister of Foreign Trade signed a memorandum recognizing their interest in sustainability and research within the semiconductor industry.
“Our state and the Netherlands can really power the future and create a semiconductor renaissance that the rest of the world will follow. And in so doing, the governments must also incentivize innovation and aggressively pursue companies working at the vanguard of the semiconductor industry,” said Hochul.
In a press conference, Hochul touted new investment into semiconductor manufacturing in New York, including $10 billion for Albany‘s nanotech research and development facility.
She said that advancement is partially thanks to technology from a Dutch company that Hochul says offers the most sophisticated chip-making tools.
