Shares swung in New York, with the S&P 500 closing modestly lower as Nvidia was hit by another wave of selling and the quarterly expiration of options. The benchmark edged down 0.2 per cent to 5464.62.
About $US5.5 trillion of options were estimated to have expired on Friday (Saturday AEST) during the quarterly “triple witching” in which derivatives contracts tied to equities, index options and futures mature.
